1986
The first independent
Re-Ropes is founded in London as the first independent company in the UK to offer a supply-and-fit roping service to the lift industry — breaking the OEM monopoly on the shaft’s most consumable component.
1990s
The method becomes the brand
“Survey, supply, fit and guarantee” hardens from practice into promise — and the trade learns that independent roping can out-serve the manufacturers.
2000s
Gustav Wolf partnership
The partnership with Gustav Wolf brings manufacturer-grade German lift rope to the UK trade — with independent service behind it.
2010s
Beyond the suspension ropes
Sheave regrooving, gearbox and motor refurbishment, brake work, belts and technical services grow the offering into the complete hanging system.
2020s
Belfast & Dublin
Offices in Belfast and Dublin put fitting teams and survey engineers across the island of Ireland as well as Great Britain.

Survey first
Nothing is quoted unseen. The installation is measured — ropes, grooves, tensions, terminations — before a price exists.
Certificates always
Every rope and chain leaves with its certificate. Compliance paperwork is part of the product, not an extra.
Independence
We fit for OEMs and against them, for independents and duty holders — the recommendation serves the installation, not a maintenance contract.
Guaranteed work
Fit, prove, sign off, guarantee. If it carries our certificate, it carries our name.

Our manufacturing partnerships — Gustav Wolf in Germany and Kiswire in South Korea — put two serious lift-rope makers behind UK stock: manufacturer engineering, independent service, certificates with everything.
