The right construction, cut, terminated and certified

Lift Rope Supply — Gustav Wolf & Kiswire

Re-Ropes supplies steel wire ropes for lifts — suspension, governor and compensating duty — from the Gustav Wolf and Kiswire ranges, cut to length, terminated to order and certified. Constructions from classic 8×19 fibre-core traction ropes to high-performance and small-diameter ropes for modern high-rise duty, held in stock for the trade.

Overview

Rope choice decides how a lift rides, how long sheaves last and how often the installation is back on the books. We supply from two of the world’s serious lift-rope makers — Gustav Wolf in Germany and Kiswire in South Korea — which means the right construction for the duty rather than the nearest thing on one maker’s list.

In detail

Trade customers use us as their rope department: same-day technical answers on construction and equivalence, cutting and termination in our Erith works, certificates with every length, and delivery nationwide. If you fit ropes yourself, we make sure what arrives is exactly what the installation needs.

The range

  • Gustav Wolf traction ropes

The German maker’s lift rope family — including PAWO 819 W, 836 WS and the steel-core high-performance lines for high duty

  • Kiswire elevator ropes

Hoist, governor and compensation constructions from Kiswire’s published elevator range — 8×S(19), 8×Fi(25), 6×W(19) and 6×Fi(25) hoist patterns among them

  • 8×19 constructions

Seale and Warrington patterns, fibre core — the industry’s standard suspension ropes

  • High-performance ropes

Compacted and mixed-lay constructions for high-rise, high-cycle installations

  • Small-diameter ropes

Small-diameter constructions for machine-room-less and special applications

  • Governor ropes

Overspeed governor duty, sized to the safety gear

  • Crane & industrial rope

Beyond lifts — crane ropes cut, terminated and certified

Standards & schemes

Work is examined against the designations your specification cites.

StandardWhat it covers
ISO 4344:2022Minimum requirements for stranded steel wire ropes for lifts, 6–38 mm
EN 81 contextSuspension requirements the rope specification serves

Why it matters

01

Construction is not interchangeable

Seale versus Warrington, fibre versus steel core, ordinary versus lang lay — each behaves differently in the groove. Supplying the right construction is engineering, not order-picking.

02

Certified product protects everyone

A rope certificate ties the product in the shaft to a tested batch. It is the difference between evidence and assumption when the competent person asks.

03

Two manufacturers, not one catalogue

Gustav Wolf and Kiswire both put manufacturer support behind our quotations — equivalence advice, special constructions and rope quality the majors specify. Two sources also means availability when one lead time slips.

Common questions

Asked before every engagement.

Something more specific? A specialist will answer it directly.

Ask us
Can you match an obsolete or unusual rope specification?

Almost always. From the original specification, a sample, or our survey measurements we identify the construction and supply a compliant equivalent — with manufacturer support for genuinely special cases.

Do you supply ropes with terminations already fitted?

Yes — ropes can be supplied cut to length with wedge sockets, pressed or threaded terminals and suspension assemblies fitted, ready to install, or bare for site termination.

Which rope manufacturers do you supply?

Gustav Wolf (Germany) and Kiswire (South Korea) — both dedicated lift-rope makers. Gustav Wolf’s PAWO family is engineered for traction duty, with consistent diameter tolerance, lay stability and wear behaviour that translate into even tensions, quiet running and long sheave life; steel-core lines cover high-rise and high-duty work. Kiswire, which has led Korea’s special steel wire industry since 1945, publishes dedicated hoist, governor and compensation constructions. We specify from both according to the duty rather than defaulting to one list.
