Compensating Chains & Cables
Balance, hung quietly beneath the car.
Compensation offsets the moving weight of suspension rope on taller installations. We supply and fit sheathed compensating chains (quiet-running) and compensating cables, with the hangers, guides and fixings that keep them tidy for decades.

Stock position
Sheathed compensating chain held in stock; cables and specials quoted to specification.
Specification
| Chains | Sheathed compensating chain — quiet-running, stocked |

| Hardware | Hangers, guides and fixings supplied |
| Duty | Mid- and high-travel balance compensation |
Breaking forces and full mechanical properties are stated on the certificate issued with each rope — supplied against the applicable standard, never quoted generically.
As travel grows, the suspension ropes’ own weight starts to matter — shifting side to side as the car moves and unbalancing the machine floor by floor. Compensating chains and cables hang beneath car and counterweight to give that weight back symmetrically.
Renewed alongside a re-rope, compensation is one visit instead of two: the whole hanging system rebalanced together, with travelling cables addressed at the same access.

Chain or cable compensation?
The original design decides: chains (sheathed for quietness) dominate mid-rise; tensioned compensating ropes/cables suit taller, faster installations. We supply and fit both — and flag mismatches when the survey finds them.
