Kiswire Hyele 10 — Ten-Strand High-Rise Traction Rope

Ten strands over a parallel wire rope core, for high travel.

Hyele 10 is Kiswire’s dedicated high-rise traction rope: ten outer strands laid over a parallel wire rope core, published as 10×19S–PWRC from 10 to 12 mm and 10×26WS–PWRC from 13 to 22 mm, in 1570/1770 grade.

Breaking forces and full mechanical properties are stated on the certificate issued with each rope — supplied against the applicable standard, never quoted generically.

Ten strands instead of eight put more, smaller contact points into the sheave groove and give a rounder rope section. That is what high travel asks for: the taller the shaft, the more the suspension set has to resist stretch and hold its diameter while it does it.

Kiswire specifies elastic elongation at 10% of minimum breaking load at 0.10% or less and permanent elongation at 0.13% or less — tighter than the eight-strand suspension range, which is the reason to reach for it on a high-travel installation rather than simply going up a diameter.

Why this line

  • Ten outer strands for a well-rounded rope section
  • Parallel wire rope core for stretch resistance
  • Lower elastic and permanent elongation than the eight-strand range
  • Low diameter change under load

Typical applications

  • High-travel and high-rise traction installations
  • Towers where rope stretch drives levelling and ride quality
  • Sets where a diameter increase is not the right answer

Ask ours
When is a ten-strand rope the right answer over a heavier eight-strand?

When stretch, not strength, is the limit. On high travel the suspension set’s elongation drives levelling and ride, and Hyele 10 is specified to tighter elongation figures than the eight-strand range. Going up a diameter adds breaking load but not necessarily the stretch behaviour the shaft needs, and a bigger rope may not suit the existing sheave.

Can Hyele 10 replace an eight-strand set on an existing installation?

Only where the installation specification allows the construction change and the sheave grooves suit it. It is a different rope section, so it is a specification decision rather than a like-for-like swap — send us the installation details and we will say plainly whether it fits.
