PAWO 819 — 8×19 Suspension Rope
The traction lift workhorse, in every core.
PAWO 819 is Gustav Wolf’s classic 8×19 suspension rope for traction lifts: eight 19-wire strands over a fibre, mixed (steel + fibre) or full steel core, in dual-tensile 1370/1770 N/mm² grade, bright finish, right ordinary lay. It is the construction the industry re-ropes with — and the backbone of our stock.

Stock position
Our deepest stock line — held in every listed diameter and core, tens of thousands of metres on the shelf in Erith for same-day cutting.

Breaking forces and full mechanical properties are stated on the certificate issued with each rope — supplied against the applicable standard, never quoted generically.
Eight strands of nineteen wires is the geometry that made the modern traction lift possible: flexible enough for repeated sheave bends, with outer wires sized to live in the groove. PAWO 819 executes it with Gustav Wolf’s tolerances — consistent diameter, stable lay, predictable stretch — which is what even tension across a set actually depends on.
We hold PAWO 819 across the working diameters in all three core types: natural fibre core (Seale pattern, dual-tensile) for classic traction duty, mixed core where extra dimensional stability is wanted, and steel core for higher duty. Every length leaves Erith cut to your measurement, terminated to order and certified.
Why this line
- The industry-standard re-roping construction, from the manufacturer the majors specify
- Three core options from one family — match the original specification exactly
- Dual-tensile wire grades balance groove wear and fatigue life
- Dimensional consistency that holds tension equalisation between visits
Typical applications
- Re-roping passenger and goods traction lifts
- Roped hydraulic suspension
- OEM and independent maintenance stock
Which core should I order?
Match the installation: fibre core for classic traction duty (flexibility, lubricant reservoir), steel core where the original specification demands strength or crush resistance, mixed core as the modern compromise on many packages. Send the existing rope designation or our survey will confirm it.
What does “1370/1770 dual tensile” mean?
Two wire grades in one strand: softer 1370 N/mm² outer wires that bed kindly into grooves, and 1770 N/mm² inner wires carrying strength. It is the classic recipe for traction suspension ropes — groove-friendly outside, strong inside.
