The 6×19 family covers governor loops and small-diameter duties: six 19-wire strands at 6–6.5 mm in fibre or steel core, including the dual-tensile F6/19 W-FE DT designation manufactured to ISO 4344. Small ropes, safety-critical jobs — specified and certified accordingly.

A governor rope never lifts the car, but on the worst day it operates the safety gear — so its construction, condition and grip behaviour matter out of proportion to its size. We stock the 6×19 constructions the UK’s governor units run on, in both cores, with thousands of metres on the shelf.

Can a suspension rope be used as a governor rope?
Only if it matches the governor unit’s specification — grip behaviour in the governor jaws is part of the safety function, and lubrication practice differs. Order governor duty as governor duty; we will match the unit.
