Tension equalisation is only as durable as the springs it adjusts against. Tired, collapsed or mismatched springs pin ropes at whatever tension they happen to hold — which is why suspension elasticity is renewed with the ropes, not inherited by them.
We hold springs, washers and buffers by the hundred and specify them as sets: matched stiffness across the hitch, correct buffer type for the arrangement, new rods where threads have had their day.

Why do springs matter to rope life?
They are the mechanism by which a multi-rope set shares load dynamically. Dead springs mean static, unequal tensions — and the tight rope pays for it in wear. New ropes on old springs inherit the imbalance from hour one.
